Fullins back in court Wednesday

TROY - The man accused of stabbing someone in the neck with a screwdriver is facing more than an assault charge.

Police went to Massachusetts to pick up 24-year-old Emmet Fullins for his court appearance Wednesday.

He allegedly stabbed Francis Smith back in November but police say he also raped and choked a pregnant woman in February, causing her to miscarry.

Mass. health insurers report mixed 1Q results

BOSTON (AP) - The four largest health insurers in Massachusetts have reported mixed first-quarter financial results, with two posting income gains, one registering lower earnings, and one reporting a loss.

<font size="2">Doctors group: Ban sale of tobacco in hospitals</font>

BOSTON (AP) - A statewide association of doctors and medical students is backing a proposed ban on the sale of tobacco products by health care institutions.

The Massachusetts Medical Society offered testimony Tuesday at a Beacon Hill hearing by the Legislature's Joint Committee on Public Health.

The bill would not only prohibit hospitals and clinics from selling cigarettes and other tobacco products, it would also block doctors from working in a professional capacity in locations where tobacco products are sold.

The group said doctors, nurses and other health care professionals "should not be permitted by their very presence to legitimize the sale of tobacco products."

Mass. man admits threatening upstate NY student

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - A 49-year-old Massachusetts man has admitted threatening a student at an upstate New York college.

Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy III tells local media outlets that Lance Leonard pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of first-degree coercion.

Vt. mobile home park faces foreclosure complaint

BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A mobile home park that has been under pressure from the Vermont town of Bennington and the state to fix problems with its water supply is now facing a foreclosure complaint.

Police find suspicious device on man hunt

GREAT BARRINGTON - Police find a suspicious device while searching for a missing man from Berkshire County.

Great Barrington Police they found 28-year-old Edward Passetto of Pittsfield on Monument Mountain.

They say he jumped to his death from the top of the mountain.

Not far from there, they found a toilet paper roll, stuffed with blasting caps, screws and some wires.

The bomb squad was called in and detonated the device.

Police are not saying if Passetto is connected to the device.

The incidents remain under investigation.
