New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner died this morning at the age of 80 after suffering a heart attack.
As a 1952 graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, Steinbrenner majored in English, earning a bachelor of arts degree.
Steinbrenner seemed to always have a passion for sports. He was a prominent track athlete and also the sports editor of the college newspaper.
As an active alumni of Williams College, Steinbrenner was also a benefactor to the college, often giving money quietly.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Steinbrenner family, especially his son Hal who is also a Williams Graduate,” commented Jim Kolesar, the Assistant to the President for Public affairs.
