Crime

CANAAN - Two teens have been accused of stealing a car from a parking lot in the Town of Canaan.

Sixteen year-old Austin Parent of Northumberland and 16-year-old Xavier Rowse of Greenwich were charged with criminal possession of stolen property on Saturday, October 1.

Rowse was additionally charged for unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and Parent is also facing additional charges after being accused of providing pot to a 12 year-old on Oct. 1.

The charges came after the teens allegedly stole a 2005 Nissan X-terra from a parking lot in Canaan and then fled the scene after police tried to stop the car in the Village of Greenwich.

Both the teens were reported missing from the youth facility Bershire Farms in Canaan. They were taken to Washington County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
