PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A 55-year-old western Massachusetts man has been sentenced to serve three to five years in prison for a drunken driving crash that killed a decorated World War II veteran.

A jury in Pittsfield returned its verdict Thursday against Frank S. Zuber, concluding he was culpable for the December 2010 crash that killed 85-year-old Joseph Donohue. He was convicted of vehicular manslaughter while drunk and negligent driving.

The Berkshire Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/rr31q9 ) witnesses said they saw Zuber's vehicle cross into Donohue's lane, and that police concluded he was drunk.

Zuber's defense attorney says he is sorry for Donohue's death, but that witness accounts were unreliable and that their own reconstruction expert contradicted the police's findings.

Neither man was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.
